Joe Collins
A folk musician and mountain dulcimer player since the late 70s, Joe combines mountain dulcimer wizardry with good, solid vocals. He is a songwriter and vocalist, inspired by artists like Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, and Kris Kristofferson. But as he grows older and pudgier, he realizes that perhaps the most profound influence on his musical bent was the old Burl Ives records he listened to repeatedly as a kid.
Joe’s contributions to the dulcimer world include monthly free tabs available on his website for over twenty years, fifteen books of tablature, six CDs, hundreds of different workshops, and a program for training dulcimer teachers. He has taught and performed in festivals across the country and composed a lot of original music for the dulcimer. He writes and arranges multi-part pieces and was a featured conductor at the first ever First National Dulcimer Orchestra Symposium in 2023. His love for the instrument has not diminished since he started 45 years ago.
